MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Ordinary Member - Any woman who is a Canadian citizen or Commonwealth subject shall be eligible for Ordinary membership in the Auxiliary:

(i) who has served, or is serving with the Armed Forces of the British Commonwealth;

(ii) who had served in forces of any of Her Majesty's Allies in any conflict in which Canada was engaged;

(iii) and the mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces, great nieces, stepdaughters, granddaughters, great granddaughters and step granddaughters of such a woman;

(iv) widows, wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, nieces, great nieces, stepdaughters, granddaughters, great granddaughters, who have reached the age of majority, of any person eligible to hold Ordinary membership in the Royal Canadian Legion;

(v) widows of ex-service and service personnel who have remarried, after providing proof of the deceased's service record.

 

Associate Member - must be the wife of an Associate Member of the Legion, and a Canadian citizen or Commonwealth subject. She may vote and be elected to office at all levels of the Auxiliary.

 

Affiliate Voting Members - Affiliate voting membership is open to any Canadian citizen or Commonwealth subject who is of federal voting age and who is not eligible for Ordinary or Associate membership and who has two or more years of service as an Affiliate non-voting member. Upon acceptance as a Voting Affiliate, the member is initiated.

 

Affiliate Non-Voting Members - Affiliate non-voting membership is open to any Canadian citizen or Commonwealth subject who is of federal voting age and who support the aims and objects of the Royal Canadian Legion. Affiliate non-voting members shall have the same rights as all other members except the rights to vote and hold office. After two years service as an Affiliate non-voting member, she may apply for Affiliate voting status.

 

 

Life Membership - Life memberships are available for Members for outstanding service after ten years of membership with an Auxiliary with the recommendation of the Ladies' Auxiliary and approval of the Branch of the Legion to which it is an Auxiliary. Application forms for Life membership are available from the Command Secretary. Per Capita Tax must accompany the application to cover the years as outlined.
