The Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, presented the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation to an Alberta Veteran from Red Deer. The recipient was recognized for his dedication and devotion to Canada's Veterans. In April, 2001 Her Majesty the Queen approved the design of a special bar to be worn with decorations to be known as the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation. The Governor General has issued a Warrant creating this award, and the governing policies call for it to be "...awarded to individuals who have performed commendable service to the Veteran community and /or individuals who represent commendable role models for their fellow Veterans." The award is intended primarily for Veterans, though in rare circumstances non-veterans may be considered for a Commendation. |

PILGRIMAGE
OF REMEMBRANCE
The 2007 Youth Leaders’ Pilgrimage of Remembrance will take place from July 5-19, 2007.
The Canadian who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Canadians, like yourself, would like to start a grassroots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association, and Special Forces Associations, and all their friends, simply to recognize that we support our troops. We need to inform the local VAC and The Royal Canadian Legion, our local press, local TV, and continue carrying the message to the national levels as we start to get this going. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday, and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every RED - blooded Canadian who supports our young men and women,
WEAR SOMETHING RED.
