St.Paul Branch 100 VP Russell Whitford accepts a cheque for $900.00 from the local Newspaper Editor Mrs. Poulin. The St. Paul Journal is an itregal part of the annual Poppy campaign, using their sales staff to contact business', where a majority portion of their sales income goes to the Poppy Fund.

St. Paul Legion members Mike Lotoski, Russ Whitford, and Bernie Drolet receive 4 memorial plaques from local MLA Ray Danyluk. The plaques will be placed in public buildings in the St. Paul area to ensure that as many people as possible will read the inscriptons and remember the sacrifice. 


 

  

Branch #35 Donates $10,000.00 to the Red Deer Hospice Society

A presentation to STARS for $10,041 was made by Branch 104, Innisfail. Making the donation was Dan Reiberger (President) and Heather Taylor (Past President). So far Branch 104 Innisfail had donated a total of $169,500.00 to STARS.
 

  

 

 

Branch 100 St. Paul , President Harold Lefebvre, presents bursary cheques to Andy and Lisa Brodziak , Grandchildren of Veteran, Life Member and long time branch Sgt. at Arms, John Brodziak

 

 

 St. Paul Legion VP  Whitford presents members of the Dominican Republic Service Project with a cheque for $650.00.The project  includes  fundraising for poverty stricken students in the Caribbean country, as well as a working and living experience with a host family in the Dominican Republic. The team from St. Paul volunteered their services for lunch preparation on Remembrance Day. 

St. Paul Legion VP Whitford presents Knights of Columbus members John Gottenbos and Dennis Robinson with a $200.00 cheque for their Christmas hamper campaign.

The Society  builds and donates homes to low income residents who would otherwise not be able to afford their own homes. The current project is a duplex with a completion date estimated for mid 2007.

 

St.Paul legion Vice President Russell Whitford presents St. Theresa Health Centre administrator Bev Belland with a $1000.00 cheque to help with the purchase of a special supportive chair. The donation is made from funds raised during the 2005 Poppy Campaign.

St. Paul Legion #100 presents a $500.00 sponsorship cheque to Jessica Gagne, for her enrollment in the 2006 Global Youth Leaders Conference, to be held in Washington D.C.

The Royal Canadian Legion District commander Lorne Pultz presents a certificate and cheque to Tracee Whitford of the St Paul Regional High School for 2nd place senior essay at district level judging

Air Cadets Penhold Squadron 104, went out on their own and raised $504.00, which they donated back to Innisfail legion to help them purchase a CF-104 fighter plane to be displayed at the Innisfail Branch #104

Sylvan Lakešs Royal Canadian Legion branch recently donated $3,995 for a
mattress for Aidan Fitzgerald who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. Making an official presentation were Legion treasurer Shirley Davis and president Rob Bird to Aidan and his parents Rick Quirico and Alex Fitzgerald. Money for the donation was raised by bingos and pull ticket sales at the Legion. Quirico said the specialized mattress has made life for Aidan much less painful and allows him to sleep better through the night. Steve Dills Photo

SHOOTING FOR ALBERTA

David Pelchat and Tracee Whitford are heading off to Beachburg Ontario  to represent the province at the National Smallbore Rifle Shooting Championships. The  shooters will have practice sessions on August 23rd and compete for a spot on the national team on the 24th and 25th. The  Ladies match consists of 80 shots in two series of 40 with the top 8 shooters firing an additional 10 shots in the finals. The mens match is 120 shots with an additional 10 shots for finals. In order to register a bullseye the shooters must hit a 1 millimeter dot from a distance of ten meters, the St.Paul shooters have each been known to score 7 bullseyes in a row before slipping to the 9 ring.
