Community Programs

The Legion Is Proud To Support Or

Sponsor Our Young People

Each year hundreds of young people are able to participate in sports or community activities because of contributions from The Royal Canadian Legion.

A Part Of Your Community

Each year every Legion branch sponsors or supports community programs through donations. It could be medical equipment for a hospital; Meals on Wheels; the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides; a student sports team; or a track and field meet.

Last year the Legion donated over 9 million dollars to charity.

Scholastic Programs

Each year thousands of dollars are donated to provide bursaries for students by the Legion and the Ladies' Auxiliary

The Legion, through Provincial commands, offer bursaries and scholarships to students from Secondary to University level, as well as from nursing schools and schools for the handicapped.

In Support Of Our Youth

The Ladies' Auxiliary and Legion members sponsor numerous fund raising functions throughout the year in support of community activities. Last Year the Ladies' Auxiliary in Alberta - N.W.T. Command donated in excess of one million dollars to charities.

Your Support is Welcome

While the Legion is pleased to support community programs, youth programs and provide assistance to members of your family - in order to continue providing this support we need the support of parents or guardians. Your membership or active participation in a Legion Branch can help The Royal Canadian Legion continue to support members of your family.

Now you can join the Legion

In the past, Legion activities were confined to ex- service men and women. Over the years a number of changes have taken place to allow people from all walks of life to become members. Now without any military, para-military or cadet corps background, you can join the Legion.
